Sardinia offers a wide variety of breaks, ranging from wide and sandy beaches to rocky points and reefs. The FreshTraxxx base in Porto Pollo is a 30-45 minute drive from the wild NW facing coast which offers some of the best wave frequency and consistency in the Mediterranean. Atlantic low pressures, crossing Western Europe, create prime surf conditions but any prolonged period of strong Westerly winds will produce some solid wind swell. Best period is September through June when wave height can vary from 1 to 8 feet. Surfing is still a relatively niche sport in Sardinia and even on the best days crowds are unlikely to be a problem.
Equipment:
The local surfers generally favour short fish style boards between 5'8" and 6'3" although there are some good waves for long boarders too. Board shorts and a rash vest will be plenty for June-Sept and a spring steamer fine for the rest of the year.
