Location

The Chamonix valley is a place unlike anywhere else, home to Europe’s highest peak, the valley has been a tourist attraction its’ self since the eighteenth century. The Mt. Blanc massif is adorned by peaks and glaciers giving stunning views from anywhere within the valley.

Although often overlooked by the masses that end up in Morzine and Les Gets, the Chamonix valley offers a different agenda. The valley’s trails are steeper than elsewhere in the Alps meaning switchbacks, rocks and lots of roots make for technical riding; it is not uncommon for a trail to descend for 40 minutes and contain as many switchbacks. The valley’s array of chair lifts, gondolas and cable cars can be utilised for ascending or simply to give additional scope to your days riding.

There are a wide variety of marked trails circling the valley floor and traversing the mountain at a steady gradient. These trails are marked green, blue, red and black in order of difficulty, providing complete beginners with an excellent base to start and allowing the more advanced riders to keep track of technicality.

Those looking for something more technically challenging can take on pretty much the most technical and enjoyable single-track we’ve found in Europe. Even the most capable riders will be able to find something to test their abilities.

A free-ride agenda can be pursued by making the most of the steep technical single-track and taking in some drops and jumps along the way, the valley even has a good set of BMX style dirt jumps with a pretty steep and deep looking sixteen pack!

Although Dirtraxxx is run by mountain bikers we still welcome road riders to come and stay at the chalet and make the most of all the valley has to offer. For more information on a road-riding package please get in touch.
